Fertility Drugs, Treatment and its relation to Cancer

Million and Millions of women worldwide are using fertility drugs or treatments like IVF (in vitro fertilization) to get pregnant. With so many stresses surrounding us at all times, the rate of normal conceiving is declining and nearly every 3rd case is using fertilization drugs or treatments to conceive.

Last week only there was an article where I read that earlier conceiving was easier and faster and today, nearly every woman even with all tests clear is taking at least 12 to 14 months to conceive.

Major studies haven’t been able to co-link the use of these drugs and cancer, but some recent studies are quite contrary. Not only are they claiming to establish a link, but are also trying to prove how these treatments and drugs can lead to breast or ovary cancer.

All kinds of pills, be it birth control pills or fertilization pills are said to have harmless hormones, but what is strange is that recent studies are showing some vague connection. It is noted that fertility treatment drugs may show a risk of ovary cancer, but are said to lower the risk of breast cancer. Whereas birth control pills have hormones that can reduce the risk of ovary cancer, but their prolonged use can lead to breast cancer. Funny and vague as it sounds none of these theories have any kind of medical proof attached to it, instead as off today they have become a formidable scientific challenge.

In true sense, the study should actually concentrate on what should be the right dose and period for using these fertility drugs and if high dose is taken for longer periods then how can that increase the risk of getting cancer. In most studies, it is said that women who have delayed their pregnancy and have their first baby late in their lives have a higher chance of getting breast cancer, so in such cases, if the women has conceived her baby late and used fertility drugs of IVF for it and after a few years diagnosed with breast cancer who is to be blamed late pregnancy or fertility drugs and treatments.

In the end, all I can conclude is, it is not a proved theory that fertility drugs or treatments can lead to any kind of cancer specifically breast and ovary cancer. So women seeking there treatments to have a baby along with their partners can seek complete medical guidance on the treatments and methods without any kind of hesitation. But make sure you are following your health expert’s advice and guidance and no form of negligence is done. After all what can be more important than your health as Health is the true Wealth.
