Vaccination
is a must to keep your child protected and safe from very deadly diseases. I
know nowadays we hear a lot of negative slogans against vaccination but trust
me I took them my child has taken them, and it feels safe to know your baby is
secured. Vaccinations begin as early as the 1st week of the baby's birth and last till
about the child is in her early teens. Every stage has a set of boosters that
the child needs to take from time to time to keep the child safe.
As soon as the baby is born the doctors will give her the 1st dose of Hepatitis B, this is given to the baby before sending the baby home after delivery.
During 1st and 2nd week the baby is given the 2nd dose of Hepatitis B, Oral Polio Vaccine and BCG, then in the 4th to 6th week the baby is given DTP + Hepatitis B along with the 2nd dose of Oral Polio, next in the 8th to the 10th week DPT 2nd dose along with Oral Polio 3rd dose and Heamophilus Influenza 1st dose needs to be given.
The next set of vaccinations is only once the baby is 9 months old they are given their 1st shot of Measles vaccine then in the 12th month the baby is given the Varicella vaccine then at 15 months MMR that is for measles mumps and rubella.
At 18 months DPT booster dose is given along with the Haemophilus Influenza booster. At 24 months Hepatitis A 1st dose after that at 30 months 2nd dose of Hepatitis A. Then the next dose is at 3 years the vaccination for Typhoid fever is given then at 5 years DPT booster at 6 years another MMR along with Typhoid at 11 years TT is given that is Tetanus as well as Meningococcal vaccine is given this can be taken till they are about 16 years of age.
For a girl child at 13 years Rubella vaccination is now a must. Flu vaccination is nowadays a must too especially for us who stay in extreme cold climates, this vaccination can be taken at any period of one's life.
Above given is a list of vaccinations that are generally administered, but with new and new medications coming in some new shots may be added or some may even be eliminated, you will be given a chart of vaccinations and their period, in which they need to be taken by your pediatrician follow their advice to keep your child safe and healthy.
