Massage is a must for Babies

 Baby Massage
Massage is very essential for the babies physical development, babies are lying on their backs the whole day, especially when they are infants this can tend to tire their backs and less physical activity can also cause gas problem which in turn causes colic.

Massage has to be a fixed schedule and also at a fixed time you shouldn’t fluctuate the babies massage time at all. Most babies love their massage time as it gives then relief and relaxation, but some kids may not be so fond of their massage time and will definitely create a huge fuss and can even howl. There is nothing to worry in that eventually they will settle down and also understand that it is a part of their routine and will gradually adjust to it.

There are certain tips that need to be taken into account while massaging your baby-

1. Make sure you do not massage the baby immediately after their feed, or close to their nap time make sure the massage time is fixed between their noon play times. Try to always stick to baby oil for massaging as it will add to the baby's health and also give nourishment to the skin.

2. Always begin their massage from their legs, as not only are they stronger than the other body parts but also need to be stretched to ease out their tiredness. Take each foot add oil on it and pull them gently then rotate their ankles, then gently soothe their foot and their toes, make sure you also gently massage their feet souls with your thumbs.

3. After their legs massages do their hands, begin with their little palms massage them in circular movements, and gently pull each and every finger. Then in the same circular movement massage the babies’ arms.

4. After the hands place your both hands softly on the babies’ chest and in outward movement stroke them
gently. Use flattened palms on their chest and use the whole hand not just fingers as the chest is very delicate fingers can hurt the baby so use your whole hand especially palms.

5. For their tummy stroke in circular movements and then stroke in top to down movements as if you are straightening something, same way go lower and also with your thumb gently massage their thighs and inner joins of their thighs and abdomen.

6. Then roll your baby over their stomach, start will circular strokes on their buttocks and their back thighs and calves .Make sure you are pouring good amount of oil on their back thighs and calves.

7. Then start massaging their back in very simple inward and outward strokes, be very gently on their back and add an extra dose of oil on the babies’ spinal cord as that gets tired the most and needs extra pampering.

8. Then gently massage their shoulders before ending it with a dash of oil on their heads, do not massage the head of the baby is it is still soft just simple applying of warm oil is enough.

9. Once you are done with mugging the baby make sure you wrap the baby in warm soft towel and then
snuggle the baby close to your chest. If the baby needs a feed, you can go ahead and feed the baby now and it is most likely the baby will fall asleep.

10. You can also give the baby a bath if the baby hasn’t taken your feed yet, a warm water bath with a good company baby wash after the bath dress the baby in warm clothes and wrap them up and then feed the baby, for sure they will have a beautiful and peaceful nap.
