Pregnancy, the most pleasing event in a woman’s life! Once the good news is heard, would be mother and closed ones become keen about the nutrition of the mother. During the entire pregnancy period, mother has to take care of her diet for her loved one. Pregnancy nutrition is important and differs from a normal person’s nutrition. A pregnant woman has different concerns related to her diet such as weight gain, nutritional values, food cravings, nausea, morning sickness etc.  

It is the phase where the mother has to intake diet for both her baby and herself. The need for minerals, vitamins and nutrients need to be fulfilled for a growing baby. Here are some healthy foods that can be included in pregnancy nutrition to ensure sufficient supply of vitamins and minerals. –

·         Nonfat Milk – During pregnancy, calcium requirements are almost doubled than a normal person. Nonfat milk is a smart choice to get it.

Besides this, dried beans and lentils, cheese, oatmeal, eggs, fruits like banana, oranges etc. must be included in the diet to ensure pregnancy nutrition.

The pregnant women should take extra 300 calories a day. Pregnancy cravings are associated with the baby’s extra needs for vitamins and minerals and especially for comfort giving serotonin levels. The human pregnancy lasts for 266 days i.e. approximately 38 weeks. It is a pleasing event for mothers but comes with a lot of discomfort. This discomfort can be lessened with proper pregnancy nutrition, exercises and living happy. So, get ready to welcome a pretty, healthy baby!
