Take Care of Breastfeeding Diet for A Healthy Baby

Breastfeeding is very essential for infants for their growth and nourishment. The newborn baby is totally dependent on breastfeeding. The lack of lactation or breastfeeding causes malnutrition or even lead to death of infants. A baby gets all essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients from breastfeeding. That is why; mother should take care of her diet. The breastfeeding diet should be balanced and enriched with a variety of natural foods offering vitamins and minerals for baby’s healthy growth.

The lactating mother must be keen about her diet or intake. Alcohol or other substances and even some medicines can affect baby’s health and growth. Breastfeeding can be unpleasant in case of breast feeding pain. However, consulting medical practitioners for lessening the discomfort and pain can be a better solution.

Here are some tips for breastfeeding diet to take care of your baby – 

·Eat healthy snacks in between the two meals. Breastfeeding mothers often feel hungry. Plan healthy snacks and meals offering vitamins, proteins and minerals.

·Do not bother about calories. Breastfeeding mothers need around 500 calories more than mothers who are not. Low intake or starvation can lead to starvation of a baby.

·Breastfeeding mothers need calcium, Vitamin D along with other vitamins and minerals. Eat fruits, dairy products, fish, cereals, juices etc. to get these nutrients.




Mother’s milk is the complete food for the infants. If proper care for diet is taken, baby stays healthy and grows properly. This phase is very vital in overall development and growth of the infants.
